Congratulations to Duke Guthrie the 2015 Weed Superintendent of the Year.

2015 IAWCS Nomination for Weed Superintendent of the year

From Brad Bluemer, Bonner County

I’d like to nominate Duke (Terry) Guthrie as weed superintendent of the year! He’s not only a dedicated weed warrior; he’s one of the best weed men you’d ever want to know. The following attributes I believe make him a grand candidate for this award.

1-      Boundary County Weed Superintendent for about 9 years.

2-      SCWMA chairman for 7 years promoting activities including Bio-control, educational training, specific herbicide applications on new species and all benefits to agricultural crops in the region.

3-      Professionally promotes agency coordination with USFS, Nature Conservancy, Kootenai tribe, IDF&G, neighboring counties, states, Canadian weed control agencies and ISDA.

4-      Portrays a very enjoyable personality with a smile on his face with everyone he meets.

5-      He coordinates remarkable landowner cooperation for weed control work all over Boundary County including roadsides, private and public lands.

6-      Duke has effectively prevented the spread of old or new invasive species in all parts of our SCWMA and with its members.

7-      It’s been said that in north Idaho Duke is short on lots of talk and very eager to work to get-r-done!

Last but not least, he’s put up with me the whole time serving his job and my friends that has not been an easy task!! Thank you for your support!!

Congratulations Duke Guthrie, You are missed by all.
